Ask me pertinent things.    Submit posts.   Listen to my music.

Art, faith, education, social commentary, and daily happenings.

did you get an iPad for Christmas?  an iPod for Hanukah? an iPhone for the Solstice?  then you shoud stop by iTunes and pick up our latest record “The Perseids.”
did you get a Kindle?  a Fire?  you should stop by Amazon MP3 and pick up our latest record “The Perseids.”
did you recently catch on to the Facebook linked music network Spotify (I know I did)? you should go pick up our latest record “The Perseids,” ‘cause it’s there, too.
that’s right… all three LP’s by (mikey mew and) The Lovely Few are now available on iTunes AND Amazon MP3 (only “The Perseids” is available on Spotify).  it’ll probably be the last year that “Long Division” is on iTunes.  I feel pretty good about the chances of limiting that to our Bandcamp soon since it does not annually gross enough.  maybe something will change my mind this year, but I doubt it.
so please help us out and go purchase the album today since it’s so terribly convenient.  plus, don’t you have some left over gift cards to use up?

And, done.

With the first round of mixes.  We’re going to adjust the ending to “Cassiopeia*,” and then we’ll be done for the day!  In a few weeks, we’ll revisit all of these, make some additions and adjustments, and then master them!

Not bad.

*= like you care.  you don’t know track names, yet.

I’ve realized that many of these reblogs have been about Perseus, not necessarily the Perseids.  For the next few, I will try to focus on the meteor shower itself.
Enjoy!

(Musical) Help Wanted!

This summer I am working on completing a new musical project called “The Perseids.”  I have been working on this for a while.  What began as a frivolous weekend writing session has turned into a full-fledged, highly-collaborative, sci-fi epic… at least that’s the goal.

I’ve been posting for a few weeks about my need for help on various web sites and social networks.  With all of the recent followers I’ve accrued here (thanks, btw’s), and with the recording session itself looming eerily close, I thought I would make one final call:

I NEED AUDIO SAMPLES!

If this record is going to be truly collaborative, and truly sci-fi-epic-cky, then I need a good deal of help.  I am accepting donated audio samples for the next week or so.  After that, it’s lights out.

The samples can be of ANYTHING from static to crickets to some cool noise you found on your keyboard.  If it reminds you of space, heaven, meteor showers, or Greek mythology, or just about anything else, we’d love to hear it!  They can either come in Mp3, Mp4, or WAV audio files.  I can also play with Garageband files, Reason files, and ProTools files.  I just need them quickly!

If you have questions, or would like to submit something, please do so through our band email address, thelovelyfew@gmail.com.

Check out The Lovely Few’s tumblr to see the reblog series on inspiring posts and to get more information on the band, recording, any shows, etc.

Hope to hear from some of you soon.

So I’m finally taking the leap.  After years of settling into Propellerheads' Reason 3, I have decided to upgrade to 5.  I have some colleagues who have let me toy with Reason 4 on their computers, and I haven't really been feeling it.  However, now that e'er body else is moving on, collaborating with my colleagues has become more and more problematic, and often impossible given my dated software.

Enter Reason 5.

This video is making me pretty excited, even if it’s only about the features mentioned here.  Namely, the reverse envelope, the live sampling, and the kong creator (insert dog toy joke here).

With the high prospect of some new midi toys (someone has a birthday this week), summer break around the corner, and a new highly collaborative/highly electronic album in the works, I am pretty pumped about my electronic music future.

I don’t mind telling you…

that I think I just hit a reblog out of the park.  It concerns my present musical endeavor, The Perseids.  It’s kind of silly, but I think it’s a good attempt to start to begin to get at what I am thinking.  Also, you should follow us.

And seriously, if you have any ideas, or samples, or recordings you would like to donate to the Perseids project, let me know.

Thanks.
